We have composed a unique presentation that showcases the musical history of roots rock-n-roll in a format that kids of all ages love, and our standard repertoire is so vast that we can cover ANY event.   So if your organization is interested in booking LOS for a special event or educational program you can find info on the grant here.

More Amour en Francais

Our friends in Franceland have again posted a glowing review of Friendly Valley, this time in Le Cri du Coyote N°116. The translated version reads:

Although Matt Davis (piano, bass, vocal), Frank Bauer (bass, vocal) and Corey Woodruff (drums, vocal) come to us from St Louis, Missouri; Louisiana influences show in the Rock’n’Roll New Orleans style of their numbers (Make a Difference, A.F.M., and Scaredy Cat) as well as Orange Pickin’ Time and Strawberry, that mix the styles of Jerry Lee Lewis piano with a Fats Domino sax.  For good measure they add to these in The Right Direction which sounds like a 1960s Charlie Rich perked up with a Sax, a half-country/half-1960s teen rock Friendly Valley, a great waltz Grand Avenue, the melodious teen-rock Rapunzel, the slow number, Just for Fun, a la Donna, which gives you shivers as you listen to it.  Not one weak track out of the ten – pity that there aren’t more.

Rock and Roll Revue Digs Friendly Valley (We Think)

The latest copy of French magazine Rock And Roll Revue features a glowing review of our album Friendly Valley.  We think.  See, we don’t parlez vous Francais.

Plugging these foreign reviews into online translators is always fun.  The results:

“Away from the current Neo Rockabilly and Psychobilly, Matt Davis (piano, bass, vocals), Frank Bauer (saxophone, vocals), Steve Bauer (mandolin, vocals) and Corey Woodruff (drums, vocals) are steeped in the influences Louisiana, between titles very Rock’n’Roll New Orleans-medium ( “Make A Difference”, “AFM” and “Scaredy Cat”), two others, “Orange Pickin ‘Time” and “Strawberry” that blend the piano Jerry Lee Lewis and sax to Fats Domino. They add, for good measure, “In The Right Direction” with sax, which rings as a Charlie Rich of the 60′ s that would have become cheerful, a ballad medium mid Country / Rock Teen mid 60’s, “Friendly Valley, the beautiful waltz “Grand Avenue”, the melodious Teen Rock “Rapunzel” and slow “Just For Fun” to Donna, which gives you shivers down my spine listening. They succeed the exploit to have no weak title on the ten (pity there is no more). A great discovery for music lovers the state of the pelican.”

Well alright!  Oh, and no pelicans were harmed in the making of this record. The original, untranslated review:

Décembre 2009 – Rock and Roll Revue 51 – 37
Lucky Old Sons
Friendly Valley
751 Greeley avenue, St Louis MO 63119 et chez CD Baby
A l’écart du courant Néo Rockabilly
ou Psychobilly, Matt Davis (piano,
basse, vocal), Frank Bauer (saxo,
vocal), Steve Bauer (mandoline,
vocal) et Corey Woodruff (batterie,
vocal) baignent dans les influences
louisianaises, entre des titres très
Rock’n’Roll néo-orléanais medium
(“Make A Difference”, “A.F.M.” et
“Scaredy Cat”), deux autres, “Orange Pickin’ Time” et
“Strawberry” qui mêlent piano à la Jerry Lee Lewis et sax à la
Fats Domino.
